This early 1930s, late twenties silk velvet cape is stunningly beautiful. And not only is it beautiful but it looks to have been worn very little if at all and has been stored properly all these years! The color is a rich, deep purple that is so much richer and deeper in person then how it has photographed! The velvet really gives it an extra dimension of depth and texture. The fabric is completely cut on the bias and the inside fabric is as well. The interior is as good as the exterior. A rich cream silk satin feels like heaven on and it is in pristine condition. I love the elaborate and intricate band of gathers that goes across the back and circles to the front. And I love that under the collar is stitched in an intricate pattern of seaming even thought this is almost hidden from view! Really exceptional and a fabulous and rare evening piece. Excellent condition.
Shoulders: no defined seam - see below for more fit notes
Total length: 42" from neck to hem
The cape is fully lined in a rich, thick weight silk of extremely good quality. Hand finished and with a hand set silk loops inside on either side that you can put your arms though if you wish. It has the extraordinary loops and silk velvet covered buttons closure at the neck
Modern Sizing Note: The shoulders will fit up to about 17-18" across before it becomes an issue and sit funny - there is so set seam so if you are smaller it will drape and be fine
